The Kašperk Castle

Your visit to Kašperské Hory would not be complete if you are not visit the Gothic ruins Kašperk, 3 km north of town Kašperské Hory.

The Kasperk castle was built on the orders of Charles IV after the year 1356, as soldiers fortress to protect the national border and the trade route leading from Passau to Bohemia. The castle was bought by the city Rejštejnské Hory (Kašperské today) in 1617. The town Kašperské Hory is still the owner of the Kašperk castle. At the castle there is a snack bar and a beautiful view from the castle tower. You can also enjoy a visit with leaders here in summer instead of interesting events.

Opening time:

  • April, May: daily except Mondays 9 to 17 clock
  • June, July, August: daily except Mondays 9 to 18 clock
  • September, October: daily except Mondays 9 to 17 clock

Winter visits:
26.12.-2.1. daily 10 to 16 clock

Other opening times are possible for more than 10 persons
The castle can be rented for various social or corporate events.

Special tours for children - "Become a knight or lady of the castle"

  • 2.7.-28.8. - Every day except Monday from 10:30

There are interactive tours for children aged 6 to 11 years. The castle tour takes in the form of competitions and tasks, it is thematically focused on the education of the young prince and the lady of the castle. Capacity is 20 children + parents. This tour must be booked in advance in Englisch during the opening hours of the Castle (Tel: +420 376 582 324) . Minimum number is 10 children! The reserved tickets must be at least 10 minutes before the start of the tour picked up at the checkout.
